New Character Idea

Now that I am almost done school the project that I will slowly be working on is a character I am in the process of designing. This sketch is the basic idea will be working on it for a while, and I hope to use this character to try my first squash and stretch rig.

Car!

Update, I completely scratched my old car model and made a new one, it is now a Citroën Traction Avant!

Lipsync

This is just a short 4 second lipsync I did for a class assingment

Textures

So the update on my character is going really slow, because I have had a lot of projects to be doing for school. I have the almost finished texturing for my characters head and am really pleased with it. The horns have a bump map, but for the head and the body I did Normal Maps.

Character

This is the basic mesh of my character design with no textures or Zbrush details just flat lamberts. My character Riamei is suppose to be a cross between human and a triceratops, and yes I know apparently they don't exist but it is the reference I used for her. Her shirt was a fun concept to make, I like how it hooks onto the bones in her back.
One my next posts will be her detail and blend shapes.

Update on Robot

Ok so the update on my robot is that it is now rigged and UV'd. I am currently in the process of texturing the robot as well as doing some animation cycles. On my youtube account you can view the recent demo reel from my quarter 5 term ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiB2PT3Gm3E ).
For my robot I used IK spline for the tail which I really liked how it is easy to manipulate. Parts that I added Set Driven KEYS were the toes so the can spread and scrunch. The claw at the tail so my bot can pick things up. I also have KEYS on the camera so it can expand and the ear/attena so it can rotate making it look like; both dog ears and an attena.

Alright so we have come along way in school we have just been working on a Joan of Arc tutorial which can be found online. It is good for the basics of modeling and rigging but I think my class is now out the point where we want to chuck the Joan character in the dumpster and say "bye bye".
I am very excited though because we will be starting our own character design of a robot! the design that I have come up is a military robotic dog that is used for gathering info on locations.
